In-Person Counselling

Advantages of In-Person Counselling

In-person counselling offers a safe and supportive environment where you can fully engage with your therapist without the distractions or limitations of remote sessions.

  • Safe and confidential space – Ideal for clients who can’t find privacy at home or prefer to talk in a neutral, secure setting away from family members.

  • Rich non-verbal communication – Face-to-face sessions allow the therapist to notice and explore subtle body language cues that might be missed over the phone or online.

  • Stronger therapeutic connection – Many people feel in-person counselling is more personal, helping to build trust and strengthen the therapeutic relationship.

  • No technical interruptions – You won’t have to worry about internet drop-outs, camera freezes, or sound issues—just focused, uninterrupted conversation.

Things to Remember!

To make the most of your face-to-face sessions, it can help to keep these points in mind:

  • Plan your journey – Allow enough time to get to your appointment so you can arrive feeling calm and prepared.

  • Protect your privacy – If someone is bringing you to the appointment, think ahead about whether you’d like time alone before and after to reflect.

  • Health and wellbeing – If you feel unwell or have symptoms of an infectious illness, let your counsellor know in advance to discuss rescheduling.

  • Personal readiness – In-person counselling can feel intense for some people, especially at the start. It’s okay to take things at your own pace and share only what you feel ready to discuss.
